Warming Hearts in Columbia: Our Winter Coat Drive Recap

A Season of Giving in the Midlands

This past winter, once again for our third year, our team had the privilege of organizing a community coat drive right here in Columbia, SC — a project rooted in a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel warm, seen, and supported. As temperatures dropped, our neighbors stepped up in a big way, donating gently used and brand‑new coats for adults across the Midlands.

Why This Coat Drive Mattered

Columbia winters may be mild compared to other parts of the country, but for families facing financial hardship, even a few cold nights can be overwhelming. Local shelters and outreach organizations shared that warm clothing is one of the most requested items each winter. By rallying our community, we were able to help fill that gap.

Community Response and Impact

Thanks to the generosity of WildeWood community, clients, friends, and local residents, we collected over 300 coats. These items were distributed to Transitions Homeless Shelter, who ensured they reached families who needed them most. Every donation represented a moment of kindness — and together, those moments created real warmth across our city.

Real Estate Is About More Than Homes

As a real estate professional, I spend my days helping people find a place to live, but I also believe in helping people feel at home in their community. Giving back is part of that mission. This coat drive wasn’t just an event; it was a reminder of how strong and compassionate Columbia truly is.

Gratitude for Everyone Who Contributed

To everyone who donated, shared the event, or volunteered: thank you. Your support made this drive a success and helped brighten the winter season for families across the Midlands. I’m grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another.

Looking Ahead

We’re already planning next year’s drive and exploring additional ways to support local families throughout the year. If you’d like to get involved in future community initiatives, stay connected — there’s always room to make a difference.
